11 Why do I see buffering?
The buffer in a streaming audio player temporarily stores the last few seconds of your station’s playback. In the event that your network connection slows down or is momentarily disrupted, the station you’re listening to will play back from the buffer until the connection is restored. If the buffer runs out, the audio will begin to skip or possibly drop off completely. This is similar to a buffer on a CD discman, which prevents your portable CD player from skipping as you jog
12 Why does the music skip?
On occasion, some listeners may notice that the audio for the station they listen to skips, pauses or buffers. This is generally caused by bandwidth problems -- where somewhere along the way the audio cannot be successfully transmitted through a connection.
Make sure your modem connection is the same or higher than the bitrate. (You cannot listen to a 56K bitrate stream with a 28.8K modem.)
Most MP3 players have audio-buffers that can be adjusted. For Winamp, Control-P will display Preferences. Select Plug-ins/Input, then select the Nullsoft MPEG audio decoder plug-in. Click on Configure. Select the Streaming tab of the window, and increase the Streaming Buffer sliders. Click OK, click Close.
The stuttering could be a problem with the connection between your ISP and our servers. Advanced users can traceroute programs to test the Internet connection:
- PC: Visual Route - Mac: IPNetMonitor
If packet loss is occurring, send a copy of the output
. If the problem is anywhere else, contact your ISP for assistance.
13 How do I get music played?
simple! if you are an artist that would like to be considered for play, just ask the channel music director where to send media. each music director handles review, consideration and addition of new artists. if you know of a great artist/band that would be a fit for one or more of your favorite radioio channels, simply submit a playlist suggestion to that channel. include a url to the artist if you can to make it easier for the dj's to contact them. that easy!

20 My sound is distorted how do I fix it?
I'll bet you're using Winamp, and you have one or more of the EQ sliders turned up fairly high. Am I right? Try turning the EQ off. The problem will most likely disappear. If you really need radical EQ settings, turn down the 'Preamp' slider (next to the EQ) to compensate. If you have EQ-related distortion in other players that lack a 'Preamp' control, try turning the sliders for the frequency bands that you don't want emphasized down instead of turning up the ones you do want more of. It accomplishes the same thing.
21 How do I set my file types?
How to change file associations
You may want to change the association of a file name extension from one program to another. By default, file name extensions for known file types are hidden.
To See All File Extensions
1. On the Tools menu in My Computer or Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Clear the Hide extensions for known file types check box.
To change file associations
1. Right-click a file with the extension whose association you want to change, and then click Open With.
2. In the Open With dialog box, click the program where you want the file to open, or click Browse to locate the program that you want.

28 Why Can’t I get my password info?
when you use the 'forgot login info' link the system does a password reset and then sends your account information out via formatted email. some email spam filter systems such as aol and yahoo etc, see this as spam as it's formatted and contains keywords like 'password'. as such, they delete it before you receive it. if you have requested your user information via the automated system on radioio and it never arrived, please contact customer care. they will be able to either forward the information to you or reset your password as desired. we recommend adding radioio.com to your "allowed" senders list in your service email filters. your internet / email provider should be able to tell you how to do this.
you must be writing from the account listed in your radioio account as a security measure. if this information has changed, you will need to provide additional information before customer care will be able to help.
