Robert Goodman

Hello, I'm Robert Goodman and I live in Orange Park, Florida with my wife and three children. I am "the new rock" streamhost here at radioio and have been a part of io since close to the very beginning, when it was a bedroom project. It is an amazing experience to help grow io from a grass roots bedroom project to a company that now has channels for almost every musical taste and genre you can think of. It is one of the only places I can think of where someone like me, a true music enthusiast, can share my musical tastes and passion for new music with you, every day.

Though I started with one stream, playing alternative rock, at radioio, I now have privilege of hosting seven streams, all in genres I've been excited about for my entire musical life.

I have been a music enthusiast as long as I can remember. My love of music led me to almost every job I've had in my adult life. In both college and my adult life, I got to spin indie music, and dance music at every major club in North Florida, as well as travel around the US doing touring DJ dates. I opened and ran several independent music stores, "Now Hear This", in North Florida, and brought the sounds I discovered to the terrestrial airwaves on several popular alternative specialty shows, as well as electronica shows, and mix shows.

Mike Roe, the founder of radioio, got in touch with me to do the alternative/indie station at io because he was a big fan of my indie/alternative specialty show, "Forbidden Planet", and my electronica show "Open House" on WPLA in Jacksonville. Both of these shows not only enticed Florida listener’s ears for the last 12 years, but have been nominated for Plug Awards for "Best Specialty Radio Show" for 3 years in a row.

If you want to know a little more about me:

I helped start the careers of some major bands, and have been on VH1 on “Behind The Music” and “Driven” specials to describe how I helped boost them from 'local band' status to become stadium fillers. Email me and I'll tell you who they are.....

I have done dance remixes for Columbia, Warner Brothers, Atlantic, Epic, and countless indies.

I put out a bunch of records under my name, and the names "Sonic State", and "Hooper". I also released quite a few mixed CD's.

I was nominated for "Best Specialty Show" by the Plug Awards several years running, was voted "Most Loved DJ" by the Florida Times Union, and won Folio Weekly's "Best of Jacksonville" award for both Club and Radio DJ multiple times.

Through my radioio stations, I have the privilege of spending my days sharing my unique views on music with you. I look forward to spending many hours with you, and am always only an email away for requests, feedback, and musical discussion!

Enjoy the shows!

Hi Robert,

Love the steam. I was going to leave RadioIO after the changes on the Eclectic stream but I took a look around and found you. Very glad I did.

Roger Clyne and the Peace Makers is one of my favorite independents. I've never heard them on Indie. Could you fit them in?
