Mike started what would become radioIO in a spare bedroom in 1998 - a project that was born of his passion for all forms of music, love of radio, and belief that "the internet is the future of radio". Since the company's inception Mike has provided creative oversight to radioIO and its ever growing line-up of channel offerings. Mike is generally regarded as one of the first webcasters in the world, a true pioneer of the medium, and is thought to be one of the most knowledgeable and influential people in webcasting. He is a champion of both artists and webcaster rights. Mike is one of the founding member of "VOW" (voice of webcasters) a grass-roots group that emerged in 2001 and that was successful in effectively changing copyright law with the passage of "The Small Webcaster Settlement Act of 2002" Mike continues to be involved in various legal and legislative efforts that are supportive of open access internet policy, the proliferation of digital media, small and large business webcaster rights, and the fair compensation of artists and their labels. Mike's thoughts on being your host? "Well, at the end of the day I'm the biggest music lover in the world. And I'm thrilled to be hosting a channel at radioIO once again. I never went anywhere - but to be behind the mic again is like coming home. I welcome your comments and suggestions - and promise to personally I have been hearing RadioIO and it is the best station in the world! Thanks for giving us this. |
