Gregg Parish

Greetings music lovers. Thanks for checking out my bio.

I’m Gregg Parish and I am a lifelong native of Jacksonville, Florida. Music is my life, my passion and my soul. I’ve been with Radioio since 2006 but, in 2007, I was able to leave the grueling insurance biz after 16 years to fulfill my lifelong dream of working with music full time. I realize that I am one of the lucky ones. Being with Radioio gives me the chance to interact and share so much with millions of people throughout the world and to remain close to what pumps the blood through my body: the music.

As a child, my parents used to take me to department stores and drop me off in the “record” department (remember those?) They could shop for hours and never have one iota of concern because I would never have left the music section. It’s funny but I used to collect the records that kids would throw in the street and bring them inside, spending hours sitting in front of my record player and never get tired of listening.

As I matured, I learned to appreciate so many different forms of music but was always captivated by the tunes with an edge and any kind of new wave; but I even have a personal guilty pleasure for the pop stuff. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, I have seen such a transformation of music and watched music change and transform into what it is today. It’s always interesting to think about how the musical formats have changed also with records, reel to reels, cassettes, 8-tracks, cds and now .mp3s. It’s amazing that there has been so much change in such little time. I even spent over half a decade managing a large record store here in the South which triggered my ability to appreciate so many types of music.

Being into so many different genres (and formats) of music poses a huge issue from a collecting standpoint in that it just never stops. (Working in a music store didn’t help that either.) Some people call it a sickness because my love for music gets deeper and deeper. The collecting also gets worse and the storage space less. Vinyl is just as important to me as it was back in the 70s and 80s, but to have the actual cd is prime. I’m just now getting used to the .mp3 format, as it is not tangible; however, it takes up so much less space. I’m definitely learning to appreciate this as my music collection is bursting at the seams. I even keep a weekly top 10 list of my favorite music. It’s always great to look back in time as music can bring back waves of memories.

As I move on and am awarded the opportunity to share my interpretation of what various musical genres mean to me, I look to you. My streams are your streams. I always encourage everyone listening to drop me a line and let me know your faves. I want to make sure I whet your appetite and leave you coming back for more and hope that you enjoy the music as much as I enjoy putting it all together for you.

We all have our own interpretation of what encompasses a certain genre of music. While I will be working to bring you my interpretation for each genre, my goal is to make it as interactive as possible. I encourage your thoughts and hope you’ll share with me your favorite artists for the genre of music that I put together for you. I look forward to sharing your favorite musical moments from the past and into the future.

So, don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I make it a point to reply to every email that I receive.

I just found this place to make comments instead of sending emails frequently. Thanking you every day for playing Taylor's wonderful music. He's so talented and has worked so hard for a place on radio. Your channel gets all my radio time during the day because of Taylor and all the other very talented people like him.
